Rare Finnish M39 Model
In 1939 the Finnish Army and Civil Guard adopted a standard rifle known
as the M39. It is similar to previous models, but with improved barrel
and a double sling swivel configuration making it suitable for all types
It is easily recognized by its pistol grip stock.
This M39, like all Finnish Nagant’s are originally based on Russian
capture rifles, in this instance a 1897 dated Sestroryetsk m91 receiver,
was produced by
SAKO (Suojeluskuntain Ase ja Konepaja Oy) and has the
SK.Y (Suojeluskuntain Yliesikunta) mark for the Civil Guard
A really nice example or a rare M39 rifle with a good shooting grade bore,
this M39 was built in 1942, which is dated on the barrel and
complemented by the Civil Guard logo and 1942 date on the butt stock.
