Pattern 1907
Hook Quillon Bayonet
Sanderson 1910
Stock No M002

Rare, WW1, Early Production 1910 Dated, Sanderson, 1907 Pattern, MK 1 Hook Quillon Bayonet With Original, Rare, MK 1 Scabbard

The Pommell has a Regiment Mark DM "Durham Light Infantry" which has been cancelled and remarked with a N denoting Naval Issue.

The pattern 1907, MK I, Bayonet with hooked Quillon and MK I leather Scabbard with internal chape (with only the iron tip visible at the bottom of the scabbard) was approved on 30th January 1908. This Sanderson made Mark 1 bayonet has a nice, clean, blade, which is stamped on the ricasso 1907 10/10' denoting October 1910, together with inspection marks. The reverse is stamped with inspection marks and War Dept Broad Arrow.

The pommel and crossguard with quillon are in good undamaged condition. The wood grips are basically undamaged and secure, but do have age related handling marks.
The bayonet is complete with an original but earlier Mark 1 leather Scabbard which has steel upper mount and Mark 1 internal chape. There is a slight crack in the leather scabard as the top next to the steel upper mount just below the securing clip.

I have had this one in my personal collection for over 15 years but not 100% convinced that the quillon has not been repaired at some time,
I can not find any evidence of any repairs, but because of a nagging uncertainty I have listed it at a reasonable price becasue of this.
